The Count Basie Center’s Performing Arts Academy is home to the region’s most popular and comprehensive music performance programs.

William “Count” Basie was one of America’s original music stars, so it’s no wonder that the Count Basie Center Performing Arts Academy’s music performance programs are second to none!

ROCKIT: The Rockit Academy, our resident rock and roll performance program, is helmed by the Rockit Live Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Rockit! runs four, seven-week programs per year, where kids aged 8-18 learn a specific repertoire of songs, supplemented with individual instruction. At the conclusion of their session, as many as forty-five young musicians form separate groups to perform live on the Basie’s historic Asbury Park Press stage.
