Registration open, classes set to begin for spring 2019 session at the Count Basie Center Performing Arts Academy

The Count Basie Center Performing Arts Academy offers everything from one-on-one vocal and acting coaching to multi-week classes on acting for commercials, musical theatre, tap, writing for sketch comedy, screenwriting, prop and costume making and more. This session, classes offered include “Monologues And Scenes,” “Beginning Acting for Teens,” “Teem Improvisation,” “Acting, Props and Costume Making,” “Broadway and Pop Group Vocals,” “Advanced Tap” and more.

The Basie Center Academy also offers several programs for young musicians:

The Count Basie Center’s renowned Monmouth Conservatory Of Music, which for more than 50 years has provided instruction and reinforced the importance of classical music throughout the region, joined the Basie organization in 2017. Recently, the Conservatory recently opened its new home – located at 65 Chestnut Street in Red Bank – to much fanfare. The Monmouth Conservatory offers instruction in most classical instruments, including violin, viola, cello, piano, brass, woodwinds, classical guitar and more. The Jazz Arts Academy, a partnership with Red Bank’s Jazz Arts Project, which works to train students and provide world-class jazz events and music education programs. The Jazz Arts Academy is a year-round, comprehensive training program, with spring rehearsals starting on April 7th.

In addition, the Basie Center’s partnership with the TVT3 program continues to flourish, offering one-on-one training in acting for commercial, television and film, training in the renowned Meisner method of acting, vlogging / new media camera presence and more.

Several one-day, weekend workshops are also available this session: “Fancy Nancy” on Saturday, April 6; “Family Game Night at the Basie” on Friday, April 12; Max And Ruby, Ruby and Max” on Saturday, April 27 and “Wonderland: Putting Wonder and Fantasy Into Your Life” on Saturday, May 18.
