Sunday: Details announced for Basie Center’s ¡Tardeada de Cinco de Mayo! Dance Party


Annual, culturally authentic Cinco de Mayo celebration to feature
live performances, Mexican cuisine and artisans

RED BANK – APRIL 29) The nonprofit Count Basie Center for the Arts has announced details for this weekend’s ¡Tardeada de Cinco De Mayo! (Cinco de Mayo Dance Party) event, happening this Sunday, May 5th at The Vogel.

“For nearly a decade now, the Count Basie Center has proudly celebrated Cinco de Mayo with cultural authenticity,” said Basie Center Community Relations Director Adriana Medina-Gomez. “This year, we’re proud to present a Cinco de Mayo Dance Party complete with Latin music DJs, Mexican folkloric dance, Mexican cuisine and goods from mexican artisans.”

Doors for ¡Tardeada de Cinco De Mayo! at The Vogel open at 5 pm, with a $10 suggested donation upon entry. This is an all-ages to enter, 21 to drink event.

Scheduled to perform at ¡Tardeada de Cinco De Mayo! at The Vogel:

  • Local DJs including Red Bank’s own DJ Magic One, playing Latin hits;
  • Freehold’s Osmar Duque y Su Atractivo Sierreño playing Banda music;
  • Sonido Karabana & Danjey; and
  • Mariachi singer Palomo Rios

Also performing will be the Basie Center’s community dancers from Calpulli Mexican Dance Company, the New York-based Mexican folkloric dance troupe which has provided Mexican dance lessons at the Count Basie Center since 2016.

Authentic Mexican cuisine will be sold courtesy of Red Bank’s Azteca Grill, Lakewood’s La Mixteca, plus Asbury Park eateries Tic Taco Taqueria and Mayan Restaurant. Additional vendors selling artisanal items will also be on hand.
