Registration open for winter ’19 session at the Basie Center’s renowned Performing Arts Academy

 

(RED BANK – JAN 7) Registrations are open for winter 2019 classes, workshops, music instruction and more offered by the Count Basie Center’s renowned Performing Arts Academy.

The Count Basie Center Performing Arts Academy offers everything from one-on-one vocal and acting coaching to multi-week classes on acting for commercials, musical theatre, tap, writing for sketch comedy, screenwriting, prop and costume making and more.

The Basie Center Academy also offers several programs for young musicians:

The renowned Monmouth Conservatory Of Music, which for more than 50 years has provided instruction and reinforced the importance of classical music throughout the region, joined the Basie organization in 2017. The Monmouth Conservatory offers instruction in most classical instruments, including violin, viola, cello, piano, brass, woodwinds, classical guitar and more. The Basie’s Rockit! Live Academy, a rock and roll performance program for children aged 8-18, culminating with a session-ending concert live on the Basie Center stage. Rockit!’s mission is to help develop, nurture, and inspire young musicians to reach their full artistic potential through live music education; past performers have gone on to become professional, world-touring musicians, and have performed with everyone from E-Street Band members Steven van Zandt and Max Weinberg, Rascals founder Eddie Brigati, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts guitarist Ricky Byrd and others.

The Jazz Arts Academy, a partnership with Red Bank’s Jazz Arts Project, which works to train students and provide world-class jazz events and music education programs. The Jazz Arts Academy is a year-round, comprehensive training program, with winter 2019 rehearsals starting on January 20th.

Several one-day, Saturday workshops are also available this session: “You’ve Got A Friend In Me” (Jan. 26) carries a Toy Story theme, while Marcus Pfister’s The Rainbow Fish (March 2) workshop will feature acting games, movement exercises, and visual arts activities.
