Shine on: The members-only Diamond Lounge reopens with slick, deco-inspired refurb

The all-new Diamond LoungeWhen Count Basie Center members return for their first shows of 2024, they’ll notice something different about the Diamond Lounge:

Everything.

That’s because the members-only lounge, part of the Basie Center’s storied expansion, has been completely redesigned, with a goal in mind to transform the space into a much cozier and swank space to gather.

“The objective of this design was to create an inviting space that felt playful and sophisticated,” said designer Shayna Vrabel, who worked with Basie Center personnel to create the new look. Our goal was to transform the room into a true embodiment of its name, the Diamond Lounge – a strikingly bold, yet intimate retreat.”

Vrabel says she was inspired by the Basie Center’s historic theater, which opened in 1926 and was constructed smack in the middle of the Art Deco era.

“We incorporated geometric influences, vibrant hues, and a blend of rich materials and finishes. These influences can be seen in the diverse design elements throughout the space, including the multiple layers of lighting, luxuriously minimalist furniture, and timeless wall coverings.”

Considering how members utilize the space, Vrabel and the Basie Center team also added a variety of additional seating fixtures, improving the Diamond Lounge’s functionality and comfort.

“A new look and feel, new, additional seating… we spent a lot of time listening to members and working with the design team to create a spectacular and special space,” said Membership Manager Cindy Jimenez. “Plus, with the addition of upgraded audio and video technology, the Diamond Lounge really is the best of both worlds — inspired by a bygone era, but outfitted with modern amenities to truly round out the experience.”

Members at the Envoy Level and above have pre-show access to the Diamond Lounge, which boasts private restrooms, an expanded cocktail menu, and top-shelf liquors and wines. Entry into the Diamond Lounge grows with each membership level; for more information or to upgrade, call or email Membership Manager Cindy Jimenez at 732-224-8778 x 109.
