Count Basie Center for the Arts announces latest ‘Basie Jazz Series’ performance

RED BANK – The Count Basie Center for the Arts has announced that trumpeter Chris Botti will return to Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre on Friday, October 4, 2019, the latest performance in the organizations Basie Jazz Series, sponsored by the Monmouth County Freeholders.

Tickets for the Botti concert, priced between $30 and $99, go on sale Friday, March 22nd at noon via theBASIE.org,  phone charge at 732-842-9000 and the Basie Center box office, located at 99 Monmouth Street, Red Bank.

“The Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders is proud to support the Count Basie Center Jazz Series, which is a tribute to this true American art form,” said Freeholder Lillian G. Burry, a Basie Trustee.  “There is no place better suited than the Basie to host this series, in light of the fact that it bears the name of the icon of jazz, William ‘Count’ Basie. William Basie is well known for introducing several generations of listeners to the Big Band sound of jazz.”

Since the release of his 2004 critically acclaimed CD When I Fall In Love, Chris Botti has become the largest-selling American instrumental artist.  His success has crossed over to audiences usually reserved for pop music and his ongoing association with PBS has led to four #1 jazz albums, as well as multiple gold and platinum certifications and Grammy awards, including Best Pop Instrumental Album for 2012’s Impressions.  Performing worldwide and selling more than four million albums, he has found a form of creative expression that begins in jazz and expands beyond the limits of any single genre.

The Count Basie Center for the Arts is committed to presenting world-class jazz artists, and has previously welcomed artists like Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, Chick Corea, Esperanza Spalding, Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz At The Lincoln Center Orchestra, Norah Jones, Diana Krall, and others. Fans can expect additional Basie Jazz Series announcements in the months to come.
