CBS News New York, weatherman John Elliott visit the Basie Center Sunday morning

The Count Basie Center for the Arts and its President / CEO Adam Philipson will be the subject of a report Sunday morning on CBS News New York.

Weatherman John Elliott – one of the channel’s best-known personalities and himself a fan of the arts – stopped by the Basie this week to learn more about the Basie’s operations since the onset of the pandemic, and how our protocols and safety measures allow us to produce safe, socially-distant performances in both the Basie’s Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre and The Vogel, our facility’s new concert venue which opened in October.

It’s also an opportunity for viewers to check out the “new” Basie Center – the $28 million restoration, which was set to debut just after last year’s nationwide lockdowns.

The Basie piece is set to air late in the 6:00am hour with a live broadcast from Union Square, where Mr. Elliott will also discuss Broadway’s struggle to return, and – of course – the first full day of spring, Tune in!
