The Basie’s Music Performance Programs
The Count Basie Center’s Performing Arts Academy is home to the region’s most popular and comprehensive music performance programs.
William “Count” Basie was one of America’s original music stars, so it’s no wonder that the Count Basie Center Performing Arts Academy’s music performance programs are second to none!
ROCKIT: The Rockit Academy, our resident rock and roll performance program, is helmed by the Rockit Live Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Rockit! runs four, seven-week programs per year, where kids aged 8-18 learn a specific repertoire of songs, supplemented with individual instruction. At the conclusion of their session, as many as forty-five young musicians form separate groups to perform live on the Basie’s historic Asbury Park Press stage.
Only accepted students can register. Any questions please call 732-224-8778 x 125
The Jazz Arts Academy at the Basie is a partnership with Red Bank’s Jazz Arts Project, a non-profit arts organization that provides world-class jazz events and music education programs. The Jazz Arts Academy is a year-round comprehensive training program providing real world experience to aspiring teen jazz musicians. The faculty includes world-class working professional recording artists who are also dedicated educators. Jazz Arts Project also produces several dozen events each year ranging from intimate jazz cafe nights to large-scale events at concert halls and festivals.
