RED BANK – The nonprofit Count Basie Center for the Arts has been designated as a Community Partner by Red Bank’s Open Heart Yoga, itself a nonprofit organization with a mission of enriching the community through greater access to yoga and mindfulness.

For every single, weekly, monthly, or yearly yoga package purchased by Open Heart Yoga students, the same amount is given to a volunteer or recipient of a local charity or nonprofit organization. The Basie Center, along with the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation, 180 Turning Lives Around, Lunch Break and other vital area nonprofits, then distribute the classes to community members served by their organizations.

Like the Basie Center, Open Heart Yoga is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.

“We are grateful to have been selected by Open Heart Yoga to be a community beneficiary, said Adam Philipson, President / CEO, Count Basie Center for the Arts. “Yoga can be a life changing endeavor and we are excited to offer this opportunity to practice to the families whose lives we touch through the arts.”

“Yoga’s life-enhancing tools that positively affect our physical, emotional and mental health should be a need, not a want, for everyone in our community,” says Mary Ansell, Open Heart Yoga founder. “Getting to know new friends and neighbors by practicing together breaks down barriers and unites us.”

The Open Heart Yoga studio, which opened earlier this month, is located at 93 Shrewsbury Avenue, Suite 6 Red Bank.
