Happy New Year! Though some pundits cease such tidings after January 3,
I’d be remiss without wishing all the best for you and yours in 2025.
I’m happy to share a whole bunch of new info and shows with you to kick things off:
Membership Ambassador Program
I’m happy to announce that our new Membership Ambassador Program is in full swing! The Membership Ambassador Program is a great opportunity to get involved and volunteer to represent the Count Basie Center, either before shows or at community events.
The Community Ambassador Program offers members the opportunity to move up a level for participating, and / or for recruiting new members. If you are interested in becoming a Membership Ambassador, please contact me para más información.
Count Basie Center Winter Celebration
On Friday February 21, the Count Basie Center will hold a private event honoring Carol Stillwell and Valerie Montecalvo, the stewards of our ongoing ‘Forever For Everyone’ endowment campaign.
The special event will star the multi-talented Tony Danza and his “Sinatra And Stories” show. We’re releasing a very limited number of tickets to the public…. and as Count Basie Center members, you’ll get early access – as always. Be on the lookout for next week’s announcement and presale emails.
In addition to these tickets, you may also opt to attend as a gala guest, which includes dinner and open bar. For more information or make a reservation, contact me directly.
Member Events
2024 was a banner year for member gatherings at the Count Basie Center! Relive some of those memories by checking out photos from our annual Chairpersons Circle Reception at the annual Summer Of Love concert, our first-ever Members-Only Rooftop Party, and our summer-capping rooftop gathering, catered by Teak and featuring Dead On Live lead singer Marc Muller.
In the coming weeks, members will receive invites to our annual Star Reception at Basie Center Cinemas on February 25, 2025, our Chairperson’s Circle event at Botas rizadas on Friday, May 2nd, and our very special Amigos de la base gathering on March 23, which will offer attendees a behind-the-scenes and onstage look at everything that happens at the Basie Center. Stay tuned!

Contest: It’s Mardi Gras time!
It may be snowing in New Orleans, but we’re in the thick of Mardi Gras season at the Count Basie Center! Case in point: we’re hosting the mighty Banda de jazz de Preservation Hall on March 16!
Flamekeepers of the New Orleans jazz legacy, Preservation Hall Jazz Band have been holding court in the French Quarter since the 1960s. The band derives its name from Preservation Hall, the venerable music venue located in the heart of New Orleans, founded in 1961 by Allan and Sandra Jaffe. The band has traveled worldwide spreading its mission to nurture and perpetuate the art form of New Orleans Jazz.
