Phoenix Productions is looking for performers ages 16+ for its August 2025 production of Legally Blonde: The Musical.
Legalmente Rubia is the fabulously fun, high-energy story of Elle Woods, who appears to have it all. Her life is turned upside down when her boyfriend Warner dumps her so he can attend Harvard Law. Determined to get him back, Elle ingeniously charms her way into the prestigious law school. While there, she struggles with peers, professors, and her ex. With the support of her sorority sisters and some new friends, Elle quickly realizes her potential and sets out to prove herself to the world.

See character descriptions below. All auditionees are asked to prepare the following:
- 16 bars of their best contemporary modern musical theatre or pop/rock music selection. Please bring your sheet music in the correct key in a notebook or published book for the accompanist.
- There will be a mandatory short dance audition for all auditionees. Those wishing to be considered as Brooke Wyndham or the “Whip it into Shape” dancers will be asked to demonstrate their jump rope skills. Dance audition video links will be sent one week prior to auditions to all those who sign up.
- If you are unable to attend auditions in person for any reason, please visit phoenixredbank.com/video for information about submitting a video audition (self-tape).
If you have one available, please bring a copy of your headshot and resume.
Performers of all races, gender expressions / preferences and body types are encouraged to audition. Though characters in this production may carry traditional cis names or gender expressions / preferences or historically be portrayed as a particular race, casting will be held with the mindset that any role can potentially be filled by any actor.
Rehearsal dates: June 10th (or there abouts) to July 31calle typically 2-3 weekday evenings and one weekend day. We are hoping to lock in a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday evening and Saturday daytime rehearsal schedule. More rehearsal days will be required as the production opening approaches. Performers must be available every evening of tech week starting July 28el, no exceptions.

Elle Woods
(Character age: 20-25)
Elle is the protagonist of the show – a cheerful, energetic, and fashion obsessed sorority girl who attends Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend but ends up discovering her true potential. Her primary songs include “Omigod You Guys,” “What You Want,” “Positive,” “So Much Better,” “Legally Blonde,” and “Find My Way.”

Emmett Forrest
(Character age: 25-30)
Emmett is a teaching assistant at Harvard Law School. He’s intelligent, empathetic, modest, and becomes Elle’s mentor and eventual love interest. His main songs include “Chip on My Shoulder,” “Take It Like a Man,” and “Legally Blonde.”

Warner Huntington III
(Character age: 20-25)
Warner is Elle’s ex-boyfriend who enrolls at Harvard Law. He’s handsome and privileged, but somewhat shallow, valuing status and image over substance. He’s featured in “Serious,” “Chip on My Shoulder,” and “Legally Blonde Remix.”

Vivienne Kensington
(Character age 25-30)
Vivienne is a serious, driven law student at Harvard and Warner’s new girlfriend. She initially dislikes Elle, but they eventually develop mutual respect. She sings “Serious” and “Legally Blonde Remix.”

Paulette
(Character age: 35-45)
Paulette is a warm-hearted, friendly, and slightly eccentric salon owner who becomes Elle’s friend. Her main songs include “Ireland,” “Bend and Snap,” and “Legally Blonde Remix.”

Professor Callahan
(Character age 45-60)
Callahan is a ruthless, prestigious law professor at Harvard who is more concerned with winning cases than with ethics. He sings in “Blood in the Water” and “There! Right There!”

Brooke Wyndham
(Character age: 25-35)
Brooke is a wealthy fitness guru and Elle’s client, who’s accused of murder. She’s tough, charismatic, and refuses to take the easy way out. She leads the ensemble in “Whipped into Shape.”

Enid Hoopes

Enid is a feminist, activist, and fellow law student at Harvard. She’s outspoken and highly intelligent, often standing up for what she believes in. She is featured in various group numbers.

Serena, Margot, Pilar
(Character ages: 18-25)
Serena, Margot, and Pilar are Elle’s best friends and sorority sisters. They provide comic relief, encouragement, and pop up in Elle’s mind as a Greek Chorus. They’re heavily featured in songs like “Omigod You Guys,” “Positive,” “Bend and Snap,” and “Legally Blonde Remix.”
