Sundays • 3-5PM • Beginning April 2, 2023
April 2 - June 11
Ages: 13+
Instructor: Anthony Ware & Zach Lorelli
RegisterThis program enables students to hone skills in the language of jazz. It is a performance-based curriculum that includes ensembles, solos, music theory, and listening sessions.
Beginners will be introduced to concepts of jazz melody, phrasing, harmony, and improvisation.
More advanced students will dive deep into jazz theory and elevated performance training. Topics covered will include ii-V-I vocabulary, common scale patterns, advanced scales, and jazz history. Students will leave with an understanding of what and how to practice in order to become fluent improvisers.
Placement will be determined by performance evaluation. Students need to be between the ages of 13-18, have 3-4 years of experience playing their instrument, know at least 3-4 major scales, read music, and understand basic rhythms.
Tuition assistance grants and a limited number of full scholarships are available. Please apply early, as these opportunities are limited. Reach out to Zach Lorelli at [email protected] or Kiki Rausch at [email protected] for more information.
